Although an SME with a "family" feel (the MD is frequently on the shop floor talking to every member of staff), their game-changing R&D effort is what is usually expected of a much larger player in this market. Due to retirement, they are now looking for a Head of Operations. Reporting directly into the Managing Director and working closely with other section heads, this position sits across manufacturing/production, R&D, and administrative departments.
Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing compliance
- Maintaining standard certificates already awarded and overseeing the process to gain new ones
- Initiating and managing strategic changes
- Implementation of automation programmes and new ways of working
They are looking for an experienced operations-level manager from a manufacturing background. Familiarity with injection-moulding or similar industries is preferable. You will have a strong track record in initiating and managing change, and be highly familiar with relevant compliances. You will also be familiar with trends in manufacturing, and have an eye on technology developments that can help to improve even further the company's offerings to existing clients, and also win new ones.
The manufacturing site is in Stone in Staffordshire, and applicants will need to be either based a reasonable daily commute from Stone, or else be prepared to relocate at their own expense. The role is 5 days/week onsite, and unfortunately there is no negotiation with this. All applicants must be authorised to work in the UK unrestricted and without the need for sponsorship at any time in the next 5 years.
This is a great opportunity for an Operations Manager (senior level) from a manufacturing background to join a thriving professional company. Most of the staff have been there for over a decade, and this speaks volumes for the type of company they are. The package is highly attractive, with a basic salary of £130k, plus a car if required.
