The Company: We have been exclusively retained by a Tier 1 Joint Venture (JV) currently delivering one of the most technically challenging sections of the HS2 high‑speed rail project. This is a unique opportunity to join a multi‑billion‑pound infrastructure programme that will define the UK’s transport landscape for decades.
The Role: Our client is seeking a high‑calibre Senior Quantity Surveyor to take commercial ownership of a major work package in the Coventry area. This package involves the construction of complex viaducts and heavy civil structures. You will be working within a high‑performing commercial team, reporting directly to the Commercial Director.
Key Responsibilities- Leading the commercial administration of heavy civils work packages valued at £20m+.
- Managing the rigorous "Defined Cost" auditing process required by HS2 Ltd.
- Driving value engineering and cost‑saving initiatives to ensure the project remains within the Target Cost.
- Managing and mentoring a team of Assistant and Intermediate Quantity Surveyors.
- Building a collaborative relationship with the Client’s (HS2) commercial representatives to ensure smooth final account settlements.
- Extensive experience on major UK infrastructure projects (Rail or Highways experience is highly advantageous).
- Deep expertise in NEC4 contract management and Target Cost mechanisms.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage high‑pressure commercial environments.
- MRICS status is preferred, though candidates with equivalent experience will be considered.
