Overview

Our client is a major technology and transformation services organisation delivering large-scale digital and data programmes within the UK public sector. They are seeking an AWS Data Platform Engineer to support the development, integration, automation, and ongoing operation of secure cloud-based data platforms within a highly regulated government environment. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who combines strong AWS platform capability with modern data engineering experience and a solid understanding of DevOps, automation, and secure delivery practices. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering and integration teams to build scalable, secure, and automated data platform solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, support, and optimise cloud-native data platform solutions within AWS
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform
  • Support data engineering workloads using Python, Apache Spark, Airflow, and Jupyter notebooks
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab
  • Deploy and manage containerised solutions using Docker
  • Work closely with integration teams across complex government technology environments
  • Implement and maintain security controls, scanning agents, and secure engineering practices
  • Support platform reliability, automation, monitoring, and operational improvements
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, DevOps teams, and stakeholders across the programme
  • Contribute to technical documentation, standards, and engineering best practice
