An independent, family-owned UK manufacturer of colour and additive masterbatch, compounds and rotational powders.

The business has an established position and is now looking to accelerate growth as part of its wider development strategy

Role Overview

The business are looking for an experienced commercial professional to support the growth and development of the additive masterbatch business across the UK and, where appropriate, Europe.

Working closely with the Sales Director, Technical Director, R&D and Marketing teams, the successful individual will help develop the businesses’ additive sales strategy, identify new market opportunities and support the continued development of the product portfolio.

This is a senior, commercially focused role with a strong emphasis on new business development, market knowledge and technical understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of the company’s additive portfolio, target markets and competitive landscape.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities for additive masterbatch across the UK and Europe.
  • Build relationships with injection moulders, blow moulders, sheet and film processors, recyclers and relevant end users.
  • Work closely with the Sales Director to support the development and implementation of the additive growth strategy.
  • Provide market intelligence on customers, competitors, applications and emerging opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with the Technical Director and R&D team to identify product gaps and opportunities for further development.
  • Understand customer requirements and communicate accurate technical and commercial information internally to support new formulation development.
  • Develop commercially attractive solutions that meet both customer and business requirements.
  • Proactively generate and progress sales opportunities through meetings, calls, networking and targeted business development activity.
  • Support the preparation of sales forecasts and contribute towards agreed revenue and margin targets.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and manage sales opportunities through to completion.
  • Work collaboratively with internal sales, technical, marketing and operational teams.
  • Uphold the company values and contribute positively to the wider business.

Person Spec

  • Strong B2B sales experience within additive masterbatch or polymer additives or a closely related plastics sector.
  • Good understanding of additives used within plastics processing and/or end-product performance.
  • Experience selling into plastics processors, manufacturers or relevant end users.
  • Existing knowledge of additive masterbatch markets, customers and applications would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience with additives such as UV stabilisers and absorbers, antioxidants, laser-marking additives and PFAS-free processing aids would be advantageous.
  • Experience with flow and impact modifiers, particularly within recycling applications, would also be beneficial.
  • Exposure to niche additive masterbatch, biomaterials and fillers would be advantageous.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and develop profitable opportunities.
  • Good technical understanding gained through industry experience; formal technical qualifications are not essential.
  • Proven ability to develop new customer relationships and generate new business.
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively with limited supervision.
  • Personable, credible and confident when working with both commercial and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Experience using CRM and ERP systems.
