- The Client
Our client is a family‑owned business that manufactures high‑performance elastomer components for safety‑critical industries, including chemical processing, aerospace, nuclear sectors and high‑performance motorsport.
The company specialises in meeting global compliance standards and is looking to strengthen its R&D team.
The Role
You will work closely with the Technical Manager on materials development, product development, and regulatory compliance.
In addition to formulation expertise you will oversee laboratory staff when needed and support the commercial team throughout the sales process.
Responsibilities
- Develop new and existing material formulations.
- Supervise laboratory staff in the absence of the Technical Manager.
- Collaborate with the development team on new products.
- Maintain and produce certificates of conformance, including SVHC (REACH), Ro HS, POPs, and California Proposition 65.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for raw materials and rubber compounds.
- Ensure materials meet required certifications (e. g. FDA 21 CFR).
- Monitor and stay up to date with evolving regulations (e. g. PFAS compliance).
- Provide technical support to the commercial team throughout the sales process.
- Perform occasional customer‑facing activities.
- Key Requirements
- Proven expertise in rubber formulations.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical approach with high attention to detail.
- Laboratory testing skills.
