Listgrove is proud to be retained by Leafield Environmental who are currently looking to recruit an Operations Manager with experience of working in manufacturing. Reporting to the Managing Director, this is a permanent, full-time position, based on-site in Corsham, Wiltshire. It will be responsible for two sites employing around forty people in manufacturing. The company is a well-established and profitable SME manufacturer specialising in the innovative design, production and supply of rotationally moulded street furniture, bollards, recycling solutions, agricultural products and cases.
The Role:
- Manage and control the key production processes ensuring efficient usage of resources, whilst maintaining quality and productivity in line with the production and delivery plan.
- Ensure compliance to health and safety legislation and the in-house HSHE and Quality systems.
- Action pre-determined production plan through effective usage of the production, engineering, and finishing/assembly teams.
- Oversee all the maintenance activities.
- Continually improve the production processes, procedures, and team member competence.
- Analyse and report KPI’s for the department on a weekly / monthly basis.
- Motivate and develop the team members through regular feedback, training plans, and coaching.
- Set clear plans and objectives ensuring good levels of communication for the team members of daily / weekly requirements and performance attainment.
- Co-ordinate the annual stock take for the department.
- Work as a part of the wider team towards the total operational and company objectives.
Person profile:
- Educated to degree/HND level with extensive manufacturing experience.
- Experience of working within the plastics industry and ideally rotational moulding is preferred.
- Consideration will also be given to candidates with a strong engineering background who can demonstrate quick learning, curiosity and a capacity to develop good systems.
- As the company is an SME, it is imperative that the person is hands-on and enjoys the ‘cut and thrust’ of a busy factory whilst also taking account of the big picture for future development of the site.
- Excellent planning and man management skills.
- Experience of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement but with the added flexibility to develop these tools so that they fit with the company’s way of working.
- An aptitude for mechanical engineering.
- Good general IT skills (ERP Systems & Microsoft office etc).
- Analytical and reporting skills.
- Flexible approach and able to work to tight deadlines.
- Must have a hands-on approach and a ‘can do’ attitude.
