Responsible to: Quality / Process Manager
Main purpose of job: Quality engineering duties in support of operations and new product introduction. Assisting in the development, running and management of the integrated management systems across the business. Assisting in the day-to-day management of the quality team across all sites.
Main responsibilities:
- You will be the lead in establishing/improving product and process quality standards and methodologies for new and existing products and processes with the manufacturing team, customers, and suppliers.
- Key to the development, introduction and approval of new products and processes both internally and externally as part of a new product introduction team.
- Be the first point of contact for customer quality concerns and the lead in investigating and resolving the issues including the tracking of them through to financial closure and reporting.
- Carry out customer and supplier visits in line with the needs of the business and customer requirements.
- Lead the process owners and stakeholders in the process mapping and development of documentation for transactional work instructions and manufacturing standard operation instructions.
- Carry out and assist in managing internal and external audits in support of the quality manager in line with the audit plan and as required to support new product introduction and purchasing activities.
- Monitoring and review of customer score cards; develop data gathering processes for the analysis and reporting of the business key performance indicators to the senior management team.
Education & Experience:
- An engineering-based degree/HND or equivalent qualification, or substantial experience in the plastics manufacturing industry.
- ISO9001/14001 qualified auditor.
- Trained and practitioner in the IATF core quality tools.
- Proven hands-on performance and deliverables in a quality engineer/manager role focused on product and process improvements.
- Operated in a manufacturing tier one organisation into major automotive/blue chip customers.
- Experience of managing a semi-skilled team to achieve improvements.
- Strong capability in defining data collection systems, analysis and reporting.
- High level of IT skills across Microsoft platforms, ERP systems and customer websites/portals.
Skills & Qualities:
- A strong, calm and measured character.
- Self-driven leader.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels (internal and external).
- Demonstrable familiarity with processes such as injection moulding, paint finishing, assembly work.
- Passport holder, full UK driving license and ability to travel.
- Proven existing documented right to work in the UK.
