Job Type
Full time, permanent, 37.5 hrs per week. Occasional Saturday cover required. Shifts are 6am‑8pm; flexibility during these hours is needed.
Salary
£29,069 per annum.
Role Summary
Senior Patient Access Officer assisting the Patient Access Leader in the management and progressive development of high‑quality, customer‑responsive services within the Patient Access Department.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that all administrative functions are carried out to the highest standard.
- Ensure teams are equipped to carry out all tasks and that adequate supplies are maintained.
- Verify that all patients meet the HCA criteria to enable successful and full financial settlement, whether Sponsored or Self‑funded.
- Seek assistance from the Patient Access Manager/Patient Access Leaders with any complex queries.
- Manage patient waiting areas to ensure the Patient Access Service runs smoothly.
- Support the Leader to organise staffing and ensure no gaps in service (rota management).
- Take on supervisory tasks within the team as required.
- Assist Patient Access Officers with more complex tasks.
- Deputise for the Leader as required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a patient access or similar role is essential.
- Previous supervisory experience in a similar role is essential.
- Excellent numeracy and communication skills.
- IT literate.
- Understanding of basic medical terminology.
