- Resident Doctor – Critical Care (ITU/HDU, Nights Only)
- Shifts: 1 x 12‑hour shift per week (Weekdays, 20:00 – 08:00)
Responsibilities
- Monitor, assess, stabilise, and manage patients, including ventilatory support.
- Oversee patient predominantly HDU, following complex surgery across a range of specialties including gynaecology, cardiac, neurology, oncology, and renal/liver patients, many requiring short‑term stay. (On occasion Level 3 ITU patients will be present)
- Perform a range of advanced procedures including central venous access, endotracheal intubation, and independent management of complex airways.
- Maintain accurate, detailed patient records, including clerking admissions and facilitating safe and efficient discharges.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring clear, concise, and effective handovers of care.
- Act as the airway specialist for the hospital‑wide Resuscitation team, providing expert support during emergency situations.
Qualifications
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise in the UK.
- ST4+ level training in Intensive Care Medicine, Anaesthesia, or a related Critical Care specialty.
- Post‑graduate qualification (Royal College exam).
- Demonstrable experience working within a Level 3 Adult Critical Care Unit.
- Ability and commitment to a nights‑only working pattern on a long‑term basis.
