In our dedicated Healthcare Practice, we help our clients bring products, services and propositions to life. We turn complex concepts into simple and compelling messages across a variety of therapy areas including rare diseases, oncology, gene therapy and neuroscience.

The role
We are looking for an experienced and accomplished Principal Medical Writer to join Madano\’s Healthcare team. You will drive and lead scientific and strategic planning, content development and review, quality control, and develop/grow key medical client relationships, as well as being involved in business development and in developing, growing and mentoring our growing editorial team. A rewarding part of this role is the guidance and support you can provide to the Healthcare team as a whole.
Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Driving and developing scientific and strategic medical/publications/integrated comms plans for global and UK medical clients.
- Working independently and with writers/content developers to develop and review scientific documents and content for a range of purposes (e.g., scientific platforms and messaging slide kits, Q&As and lexicons, newsletters, conference materials).
- Developing and maintaining professional relations with opinion leaders and healthcare professionals.
- Driving and supporting new business development.
- Successfully managing client relationships.
- Mentoring and coaching fellow writers.
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 7 years\’ medical writing experience spent in a medical communications agency. Please note we are not looking for regulatory/HEOR writers or anyone coming straight from academia.
- Broad knowledge of therapy areas (preferably in obesity, oncology, neuroscience and rare diseases).
- Excellent attention to detail and quality-control skills
- Strong scientific background, educated to a minimum degree level in life sciences (MSc/PhD advantageous).
- A passion for communications and science and wanting to make a difference in healthcare.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- A proactive solutions-focused attitude.
- Strong IT and AI capabilities, being skilled with Microsoft packages such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and also with ChatGPT.
