Our client traces their roots back 100 years, building and managing high quality homes as well as providing support services and housing for those who are most vulnerable in London and Hertfordshire. They work to provide safe, decent affordable homes and support for individuals and communities.

They are now recruiting for an exciting opportunity for an experienced Rent & Service Charge Officer to join their team on a 12-Month FTC. Offering a remote working arrangement (max 1 day a week in office) and paying £40,055 per annum + full benefits package.

About the Role

We’re looking for a highly experienced and motivated Rent and Service Charge Officer, with experience of rent and service charge accounting and an excellent understanding of rent and service charge setting regulations and legislation.

You will lead the day-to-day operational management and delivery of all Rent and Service charge setting activities. You will be responsible for setting and reconciling accurate rents and service charges for all tenures. You will work collaboratively with internal and external customers to prepare and accurately set charges for all new and existing housing stock. You will use your knowledge and experience to ensure regulatory and legislative compliance, and to improve our processes and the efficiency of our rent and service charge setting processes.

This is a great opportunity for you to help shape and support the delivery of our Service Charge Improvement project, which is aimed to ensure that we are accurately recharging for all the services that tenants and residents receive. You will be a practical thinker and doer, who can take the initiative, and turn ideas into practical solutions to drive improvement.

What You’ll Need

  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience of Rent and Service Charge accounting.
  • Excellent numeracy and analytical skills and with the ability to prepare, manipulate and interpret data.
  • Ability to read and interpret leases and tenancy agreements.
  • Experience of using and maintaining housing management, finance and CRM systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of rent and service charge setting regulations and legislation.
  • Ability to lead operation delivery of rent and service charge projects.
  • Proven ability to set and reconcile rent and service charges for all tenure types.
  • Experience of setting rents and service charges for new developments.
  • Evidence of identifying, initiating and implementing service improvements.
  • Practical experience of fair rent registration.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent communication skills across all channels to a variety of audiences.
  • Solution focused with a can-do attitude, putting the customer at the heart of everything done.
  • Experience and ability to thrive in a busy environment working to tight deadlines.
