This is a strong opportunity for an experienced heating, ventilation, gas or mechanical contracts professional to step into a role with real purpose, joining one of the UK’s leading housing providers. You will be overseeing critical contracts that directly affect residents’ safety, comfort and day-to-day living standards.
You will lead on contracts covering heating plant, mechanical ventilation, heat networks, servicing, maintenance, replacement works and smaller project activity. The focus is on safe, compliant, value-for-money delivery, strong contractor performance and a customer-focused service.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading and managing contracts for heating plant, ventilation systems and heat networks
- Monitoring contractor performance against specifications, KPIs and compliance requirements
- Chairing contractor meetings and driving service improvements
- Managing budgets, forecasting, spend control, payment approvals and contract variations
- Supporting procurement activity and ensuring contracts meet organisational requirements
- Investigating incidents, complaints and compliance issues
- Maintaining accurate audit trails and compliance records from start to finish
- Working closely with residents, contractors, internal teams and stakeholders
- Using repairs data and service trends to support planned works and continuous improvement
- Promoting a strong culture of safety, compliance and customer care
Essential experience and qualifications:
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Gas Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of heating systems, ventilation systems, gas safety and contract management
- Understanding of Gas Safety Regulations 1998, Health & Safety legislation, CDM and relevant building regulations
- Experience managing third-party contractors
- Experience delivering large-scale gas testing, servicing or compliance programmes
- Ability to manage budgets, forecast spend and deliver value for money
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence, challenge and build relationships
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Willingness to work from the Wembley office and travel across sites as required
Desirable experience:
- Social housing or large housing association experience
- Commercial Gas qualifications
- Gas Safe registration with evidence of continued CPD
- Unvented cylinder qualification
- SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate
