Job overview

We’re looking for an experienced, confident and proactive Account Manager to join our growing Birmingham team. You will ideally have three – four years’ experience and be ready to take on a leading role in both client relationship management and the supervision of junior team members.

As an Account Manager, you’ll act as the key day-to-day contact for your clients,ensuring programmes are delivered on-time, on-budget and to the highest standards. You’ll also play a vital role in mentoring and guiding Account Executives and Senior Account Executives, enabling them to grow and thrive through on-the-job learning and effective supervision.

Key areas of responsibility

Client services & strategy

  • Take full responsibility for managing and growing client relationships, becoming the ‘go-to’ contact for your portfolio.
  • Develop and implement creative, strategic PR and integrated campaigns that meet client objectives and deliver measurable results.
  • Prepare and deliver client reports, insights, evaluations and proposals.
  • Lead media relations activities – from story development and sell-ins to organising interviews and events.

Team leadership & people management

  • Supervise and guide a team of one or more Account Executives or Senior Account Executives.
  • Monitor workloads and progress, ensuring timely delivery of work and team wellbeing.
  • Train and coach team members in media skills, content creation, client handling, and time management.
  • Support professional development and help shape future leaders at Liquid.

Professional growth & leadership

  • Begin the transition from implementer to advisor – gaining trust and credibility with clients at a strategic level.
  • Continuously develop your leadership, negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills through formal and informal training offered by Liquid.
  • Contribute to a supportive, collaborative and ambitious agency culture.

BD contributions

  • Work closely with Account Directors and the senior team on proposals, pitches, and business development opportunities.
  • Bring fresh thinking, ideas and a solutions-focused approach to everything you do.
  • Play an active role in agency initiatives, including training, wellbeing and social activities.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least three – four years’ experience in PR or communications, with proven ability to manage clients and junior team members.
  • Strong understanding of the media landscape across print, broadcast, digital and social media.
  • A track record of delivering creative campaigns with clear results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – adaptable for different platforms and audiences.
  • The ability to think strategically, problem-solve effectively and act independently.
  • An enthusiasm for developing others and a natural leadership mindset.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple clients and deadlines.
  • Confidence in pitching stories to media and building relationships with journalists and influencers.
  • Passion for the evolving PR and digital landscape and a desire to grow professionally.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
