Liquid Personnel is currently recruiting for an experienced Social Worker to join its client’s Learning Disabilities Team based at the Civic Centre in Newport. This is an excellent opportunity to work with adults with learning disabilities, delivering high-quality, person-centred support and helping individuals achieve positive outcomes through strengths-based practice.

What will your responsibilities be?
As a Social Worker within the Learning Disabilities Team, you will undertake assessments and reviews for adults with learning disabilities, managing a varied caseload while delivering strengths-based, person-centred interventions. You will work collaboratively with service users, carers, health professionals, and partner agencies to promote independence and achieve positive outcomes. You will support individuals across front door services, community teams, and hospital discharge pathways, ensuring that care and support plans are tailored to meet individual needs. You will also assess and manage complex risks, contribute to safeguarding processes, and work within relevant legislation, including the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Maintaining accurate records and reports, you will play a key role in ensuring high standards of practice while effectively managing competing demands within a busy service.
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Qualified Social Worker status
- Social Care Wales registration
- Experience assessing and reviewing adults with learning disabilities
- Strong understanding of strengths-based and person-centred practice
- Experience working within front door, community, or hospital discharge services
- Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and adult safeguarding legislation
- Experience managing complex cases and risk
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
- Experience using Microsoft Office and electronic recording systems
- Understanding of confidentiality and professional standards
- Commitment to continuous professional development
