Our client is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join an Adults Mental Health Team in Dudley. This role is ideal for a confident practitioner who can manage complex caseloads while providing leadership, supervision and expert guidance within the team.

You will work with adults and carers from a person-centred, strengths-based perspective, supporting individuals with mental health needs to achieve positive outcomes, independence and improved wellbeing. The role requires strong knowledge of mental health legislation, safeguarding, and the ability to make sound professional decisions in complex and high-risk situations.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Managing a complex caseload of adults with mental health needs, including high-risk situations
  • Undertaking comprehensive assessments, care planning and reviews in line with Care Act responsibilities
  • Leading and contributing to safeguarding enquiries, applying Making Safeguarding Personal principles
  • Acting as a senior practitioner, providing professional leadership, modelling good practice and supporting team development
  • Supporting, mentoring and supervising junior staff, ASYE social workers and students
  • Undertaking Mental Capacity Assessments and working within MCA and (where applicable) the Mental Health Act
  • Developing and coordinating strengths-based support plans, including direct payments and personal budgets
  • Chairing and facilitating multi-agency meetings, reviews and planning sessions
  • Working collaboratively with health partners, community services and other stakeholders to deliver integrated care
  • Promoting independence, recovery and social inclusion for people with mental health needs
  • Maintaining accurate, timely and high-quality case records and reports
  • Deputising for the Assistant Team Manager/Team Manager when required
  • Supporting service development, continuous improvement and reflective practice
Qualifications & Experience
  • Professional Qualification: MA, BA or BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or CQSW
  • Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England
  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years’ post-qualified experience (ASYE completed)
  • Strong background within Adult Social Care and Mental Health Services
  • Experience managing complex cases involving risk and safeguarding
  • Experience of supervising or mentoring staff is highly desirable
  • Ability to work autonomously and make informed decisions in challenging situations
  • Experience working within multi-agency environments
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Legislation Knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of: Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA), Mental Health Act (MHA), Human Rights Act, Adult Safeguarding frameworks and procedures
