Our client based in Bristol is looking for an experienced Senior Practitioner to join their Front Door Service within Adult Social Care. This is a key leadership role focused on supporting decision-making, screening referrals, and ensuring high-quality safeguarding responses at the initial point of contact. The successful candidate will act as a senior professional within the team, supporting the Team Manager, providing expert guidance to colleagues, and deputising where required. The role requires a confident practitioner with advanced knowledge of legislation, strong leadership capability, and experience managing complex safeguarding and statutory work.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Supporting the Front Door function, including screening new referrals and contributing to case allocation and workload management.
  • Providing professional consultation, direction, and support to practitioners, particularly in complex or high-risk situations.
  • Leading on safeguarding decision-making, including coordinating and chairing strategy discussions where required.
  • Undertaking statutory duties in line with the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding frameworks.
  • Managing a complex caseload, supporting adults and families where needs are challenging and require advanced practice skills.
  • Supporting the development of team practice, including mentoring, supervision, and professional guidance to staff and students.
  • Assisting the Team Manager in maintaining a positive team culture, performance standards, and evidence-based practice.
  • Contributing to multi-agency working, ensuring integrated service delivery across partner organisations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Professional Qualification: MA, BA, BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or CQSW (or Occupational Therapy qualification with HCPC registration).
  • Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England (or HCPC where applicable).
  • Experience: Significant post-qualified experience within Adult Social Care; strong background in safeguarding and complex casework; experience providing supervision, mentoring, or leadership within a team setting.
  • Legislation Knowledge: Expert understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and safeguarding frameworks; knowledge of Mental Health legislation is desirable.
  • Skills: Advanced assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills; ability to lead practice, manage risk, and support others in complex scenarios; strong communication and ability to chair meetings effectively.
  • Desirable: Practice Educator, AMHP, or Best Interests Assessor qualification.
