Liquid Personnel is currently recruiting for an experienced Workforce Development Officer to join its client in Bolton, supporting workforce development, learning, and career progression across Children's Services.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and support workforce entry and career progression pathways, including the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE), apprenticeships, student placements, Practice Educator programmes, and Return to Social Work initiatives.
  • Deliver reflective individual and group supervision to Newly Qualified Social Workers and Apprentices in line with programme requirements.
  • Support the delivery, development, and evaluation of the ASYE programme, including portfolio support, direct observations, and final assessment reports.
  • Undertake direct observations of practice for ASYE and Apprentice cohorts to support professional development and progression.
  • Mentor apprentices and work closely with universities and skills coaches to facilitate work-based learning and assessment requirements.
  • Support the development of a positive learning culture across Children's Services through mentoring, coaching, and workforce engagement activities.
  • Assist in the delivery of the Practice Educator programme, including supporting Practice Educators, quality assuring portfolios, and providing advice regarding student placements.
  • Coordinate and deliver Children's Services induction programmes for new starters.
  • Support recruitment activities, including assessment centres, careers fairs, awareness events, and promotional activities.
  • Contribute to the delivery of Bolton's workforce development strategy, retention initiatives, and career progression pathways.
  • Champion Bolton Children's Services Practice Approach, Practice Standards, and Corporate Values across the workforce.
  • Support the delivery of workforce training needs analysis and contribute to the development of learning and training opportunities.
  • Promote and support relational and restorative approaches to practice.
  • Monitor and support the completion of Personal Development Reviews (PDRs), including quality assurance and dip sampling activity.
  • Work collaboratively with managers, practitioners, universities, and partner organisations to support workforce development and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Social Work England registration.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Degree level qualification in Social Work (Dip SW/CQSW or equivalent).
  • Extensive post-qualification experience within Children's Social Care.
  • Experience of supporting professional staff to deliver high-quality social work practice.
  • Strong knowledge of childcare legislation, safeguarding procedures, and evidence-based practice.
