Pay Rate: £38 per hour

Liquid Personnel is currently seeking an experienced Best Interest Assessor to join the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Team for a period of 3-6 months. Initially, this role will be office-based until IT equipment can be sourced to enable candidates to work from home.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Assessments: Conduct thorough Mental Capacity and best interest assessments in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • DoLS Reviews: Undertake Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) reviews to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Duty Function: Participate in the BIA Duty rota one day per week, handling telephone calls and email enquiries.
  • Caseload Management: Manage a caseload, ensuring timely and effective support for each client.
  • Hybrid Working: Initially office-based, transitioning to home working once IT equipment is provided. Attend the office for meetings or if experiencing IT connectivity issues.
  • Safeguarding: Recognise safeguarding concerns and act in line with local and national policy to improve outcomes for people.
  • Multi-Agency Approach: Provide expert advice to ensure an effective and consistent multi-agency approach to DoLS, including provision of training opportunities and support for Best Interest Assessor candidates.
  • Travel: Drive to complete visits for assessments throughout Leicester and Leicestershire. Mileage can only be claimed from the office base to the destination of assessment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Professional Qualification: A recognised professional qualification in social work, occupational therapy, nursing, or similar (e.g., CQSW, DipSW).
  • BIA Qualification: Must possess the Best Interest Assessor qualification for DoLS.
  • Registration: Must be registered with the relevant professional body.
  • Experience: Significant experience in assessing complex needs for adults and practising as a qualified Best Interest Assessor within the past two years.
  • Knowledge of Legislation: Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and codes of practice, including the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Mental Health Act.
  • Skills: Strong assessment and analysis skills, good IT skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence and access to a car are required for client visits.
