Liquid Personnel is recruiting Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHP) for its client's Mental Health Team / AMHP Service in Herefordshire. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a small, friendly, and highly collaborative team that values professional autonomy, reflective practice, and strong peer support. The service plays a vital role in safeguarding vulnerable individuals within the community, supporting practitioners to make legally sound and ethically grounded decisions in complex and high-risk situations. What will your responsibilities be?

  • Undertaking Mental Health Act (MHA) assessments and fulfilling duties as an Approved Mental Health Professional.
  • Making complex, high-risk decisions in line with legal frameworks, ensuring the protection of service users’ rights and wellbeing.
  • Applying strong knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, and safeguarding legislation in practice.
  • Triaging referrals and managing urgent and complex mental health cases effectively.
  • Preparing and completing high-quality AMHP reports and associated legal documentation.
  • Working collaboratively with Mental Health Teams, medical professionals, and partner agencies.
  • Promoting and upholding the human rights of individuals in all decision-making processes.
  • Participating in reflective practice, supervision, and team learning activities.
  • Supporting a culture of peer support, shared responsibility, and professional integrity.
  • Ensuring safe lone working practices in line with service procedures.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Professional Qualification: Qualified Social Worker (CQSW, DipSW, BA, BSc, MA in Social Work or equivalent).
  • Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England.
  • AMHP Status: Must hold an Approved Mental Health Professional qualification.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience as an AMHP. Experience assessing a range of client groups within mental health services. Experience undertaking Mental Health Act assessments and managing complex risk.
  • Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, and safeguarding frameworks. Strong understanding of human rights and their application in mental health practice.
  • Skills: Excellent decision-making and analytical skills in complex situations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a team. High standard of report writing and legal documentation. Ability to manage pressure and respond effectively in high-risk situations.
