Our client based in Devon is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Adult Social Worker to support services across Exeter and the surrounding areas. This role requires a confident practitioner with strong legal literacy, excellent community engagement skills, and the ability to work autonomously while contributing to a supportive multidisciplinary team within adult social care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertaking statutory assessments including Care Act assessments, Mental Capacity Act (MCA) assessments, Best Interest decisions, and Community DoLS work.
  • Developing strengths-based, person-centred care and support plans focused on promoting independence and preventing escalation of needs.
  • Managing safeguarding adults cases, including identifying risks, undertaking enquiries, and coordinating protective interventions with partner agencies.
  • Managing a varied community-based caseload, supporting adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health needs, and older adults with complex care requirements.
  • Working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams including health professionals, housing services, voluntary organisations, and care providers.
  • Engaging with the community by signposting and connecting individuals to local services and support networks to improve wellbeing and independence.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Professional Qualification: MA, BA, or BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or CQSW.
  • Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years post-qualified experience and completion of ASYE.
  • Legislation Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, safeguarding frameworks, Best Interest decisions, and Community DoLS.
  • Skills: Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills with strong partnership-working ability.
  • Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle required due to the community-based nature of the role.
