Job Description:

The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) is recognised as a leading centre of excellence for creative learning and vocational training within the performing arts and creative industries. We enjoy an international and national reputation for the quality of our teaching, our exceptional facilities, and our enviable track record of graduate employment and alumni successes.

You will teach and lead modules in filmmaking and creative and emerging technologies at all levels (4 – 7).

More specifically, this includes production skills and experience in camera, lighting, production audio and audio and video post-production, through practical filmmaking modules, both on location and in studio.

You will also be expected to contribute to the design of new modules and the development of our programmes in filmmaking and creative technologies, support students academically and pastorally, and carry out administrative duties appropriate to the role. This includes project supervision and support for students at all levels.

You will need the following key skills:

  • Post-production competencies (DAW and NLE)
  • NLE editing experience (Premiere/Resolve)
  • Post-production competencies in compositing, rotoscoping, colour correction (After Effects/Fusion/Resolve/Nuke)
  • 3D Modelling and animation
  • Game Engines for Motion Capture and VR/XR (Unreal Engine / Unity)
  • Camera, Lighting and Cinematography experience (desirable)
  • Multi Camera and Single Camera experience (desirable)
  • Audio Recording/Mixing and Audio Post-Production (desirable)

A good first degree in a relevant discipline is essential with professional or higher-level qualifications desirable. You must also have experience of teaching and module leadership in Higher Education as well as research competencies and experience.

This permanent post will commence from September 2025.
