We are looking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to assist and promote the provision of an effective, efficient and healthy food service for the school and its users

We have a great opportunity to work with our inspiring young people, supporting our College as a Catering Assistant.

Act as an ambassador for the college by supporting our values and expectations of learning.

Be a significant presence and role model for pupils and staff.

Follow and where appropriate enact all relevant policies, procedures and guidelines.

Contribute to college development through team planning and review meetings.

To participate in the college’s performance management scheme.

All staff are expected to be familiar with and adhere to all Trust policies and, in particular, meet key requirements in relation to health and safety.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Under the general direction of the Catering Manager/Supervisor assist in the preparation and cooking of meals

• To serve meals/snacks to students and school staff

• To undertake all cleaning of kitchen equipment as directed by the Catering Manager/Supervisor

• Report breakdowns of equipment and structural repairs, including food safety hazards and accidents to the Catering Manager/Supervisor

• To assist covering the food tills at break and lunch times

• Attend training sessions as specified during term time

• Attend and assist in the cleaning of the kitchen and surrounds on the days specified out of term time cleaning days

• To undertake all specified duties in compliance with relevant Food Safety and Health and Safety Legislation, and to react as directed to future amendments. To take all reasonable precautions and to exercise all due diligence to avoid commission of breaches of legislation.

• To provide catering service for out-of-hours functions such as parents evenings, induction evenings, organised functions, Governors meeting and other such events (if required).

• Safe disposal of food waste in a hygienic manner.

• Ensure the safety of others at all times.

• To ensure all heavy lifting duties are completed in accordance with Manual Handling Regulations and in line with training provided.

• Wear protective clothing and footwear provided, which are suitable for the work being carried out.

• Any other duty as required by line manager
