Role Description

We’re hiring a Payroll Administrator & Bookkeeper to take ownership of payroll processing and support bookkeeping across our client base. This is a hands-on role with a 60/40 split (payroll/bookkeeping) and a steady workflow — ideal for someone who enjoys accuracy, deadlines, and client communication.

What you’ll be doing (Payroll – ~60%)

  • Run and manage a portfolio of ~100 payrolls (mix of weekly and monthly) using BrightPay Cloud
  • Process starters/leavers, holiday pay, statutory payments (SSP/SMP etc.), and payroll adjustments
  • Handle RTI submissions and maintain compliant payroll records
  • Manage payroll queries from clients and employees in a professional, clear way
  • Keep payroll schedules organised and ensure deadlines are consistently met

What you’ll be doing (Bookkeeping – ~40%)

  • Support bookkeeping tasks including reconciliations, posting transactions, and maintaining accurate ledgers
  • Assist with month-end routines and keeping client records clean and up to date
  • Work with the team to improve consistency of records and reduce back-and-forth with clients

What we’re looking for

  • Proven payroll processing experience (end-to-end), ideally in an accountancy practice environment
  • Comfortable managing volume payroll with multiple deadlines (weekly + monthly cycles)
  • Experience with BrightPay Cloud (or strong BrightPay experience and happy to work cloud-based)
  • Solid bookkeeping fundamentals (reconciliations, accuracy, good record-keeping)
  • Strong attention to detail, organised working style, and confident communication

Nice to have

  • AAT / ACCA (or similar) qualification or working towards
  • Experience supporting multiple clients (practice background)

Location

Full-time, on-site in London EN4 (Cockfosters).

Salary

Competitive and dependent on experience (we’re happy to discuss your expectations at first call).
