Job Title: Senior Project Manager
Location: Oxforshire, London, Glasgow
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager with a background in engineering and a strong commercial acumen to oversee and ensure the successful delivery of complex projects. This role involves full accountability for the project from the final stages of tendering through to the receipt of the Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC). The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership in managing cross-functional teams, driving financial performance, and maintaining the highest standards of quality, health, safety, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery & Execution
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle, ensuring the on-time delivery of projects while meeting quality standards and customer expectations.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure all milestones are met.
Profit & Loss Accountability
- Monitor and manage project finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting at a portfolio level.
- Ensure the project stays within financial boundaries and meets profitability goals.
Customer Satisfaction
- Maintain close communication with clients to ensure their needs are met throughout the project.
- Act as the primary point of contact for client concerns, ensuring issues are addressed promptly.
Risk & Opportunity Management
- Proactively identify and manage project risks, developing mitigation strategies to minimize potential disruptions.
- Recognize and seize opportunities to improve project performance or financial outcomes.
Leadership & Team Coordination
- Lead and motivate cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and alignment with project goals.
- Coordinate with consortium partners and third-party stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure the project adheres to strict quality standards, as well as health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain consistent quality control across all project phases and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience:
- Proven experience in project management, preferably within engineering, construction, or operational environments.
- Experience managing projects with P&L responsibility and overseeing financial performance at a portfolio level.
- Strong track record in cross-functional team leadership and collaboration.
Technical & Commercial Skills:
- Strong understanding of financial management, reporting, and budgeting for large projects.
- Experience managing complex, multi-phase projects and delivering within tight timelines.
Leadership & Communication:
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to drive team performance and customer satisfaction.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders, both internal and external, and lead negotiations.
Risk Management & Problem-Solving:
- Ability to assess, mitigate, and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Strong analytical skills to identify and act on opportunities for improvement.
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Knowledge of industry-specific health, safety, and environmental standards and regulations.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment throughout the project lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Electrical Background or related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- PMP or similar project management certification (e.g., Prince2) is preferred.
- Experience working in a consortium environment and managing multi-party projects is a plus.
