Role: Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team on-site in Glasgow. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial and commercial success of our £150M 400kV substation project.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a high-value infrastructure project, ensuring cost control, contract management, and overall commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Management

  • Monitor and control project costs to ensure the project is delivered within budget.
  • Prepare and review cost forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Validate and manage subcontractor and supplier payments.

Contract Administration

  • Administer the NEC 4 Option C contract, ensuring compliance with all terms and conditions.
  • Manage Compensation Events (CEs) and variations, ensuring timely submissions and agreement.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to maintain accurate and comprehensive project records.

Risk and Value Management

  • Identify, analyze, and mitigate commercial risks.
  • Assist in value engineering to optimize project performance and reduce unnecessary costs.

Reporting

  • Provide regular financial reports, including cost-value reconciliations (CVRs) and forecasts.
  • Present financial performance and risk updates to stakeholders.

Collaboration

  • Liaise with the client, subcontractors, and internal teams to maintain strong relationships.
  • Support the procurement team in evaluating and appointing subcontractors.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC 4 contracts, particularly Option C.
  • Excellent financial management and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., CEMAR, MS Excel, or similar tools).

Desirable:

  • Experience on power infrastructure or substation projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
