Join Us!! We are looking to secure the services of an experienced Principal Designer with a proven track record in substation engineering and project expertise relating to turnkey HV GIS/AIS substations. You will be part of Linxon Engineering Department and execute complex turnkey substation projects. In this role you provide the technical lead for the project in coordination with the remote Linxon design team, the discipline leader and the project team. You will ensure that technical tasks to the project are cost effectively executed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. You will collaborate during site activities with interface during construction, technical support to commissioning and start-up.
What will you do?
- Technical lead of Linxon engineering team allocated to the project.
- Overall responsible for managing & leading all engineering activities from project start till the As-Built stage with strict adherence to Project Specifications & Linxon standards including QA/QC, HSSE & Integrity.
- Accountable for the submission on time and to quality of the project design packages in line with the overall project schedule and in coordination with all the internal stakeholders.
- Monitor Engineering cost, report, risk & change management activities.
- Instruct & coordinate the activities of the various disciplines of Linxon engineering teams (local & remote).
- Technical lead, review and validation of the documentation, issued by engineering team internal & external partners, sub-suppliers.
- Lead Design Review meetings (DRMs) and Hazard review meetings (HRMs) as required by Linxon project team.
- Participate in technical discussions with customers and suppliers, handle site queries and take necessary actions up to as-built documentation.
- Ensuring all design changes are managed in accordance with the design change management process defined by the contract.
- Identify Technical claims and support PM/Contracting/Operation management team for the successfully completion of change order process.
- In case of tenders, prepare the RFQs, validate the technical content the offers provided by suppliers, provide your estimation of the budget for the resources to be allocated.
Experience Required:
- Bachelor or master’s in electrical engineering or equivalent
- CDAE Qualification
- Extensive experience in HV substation engineering for utilities. Knowledge of the modern substation technology.
Competencies/ Skills Required:
- Proven experience in leading technical engineering team for large turnkey substation projects.
- Result orientated team player with a proactive approach.
- Excellent in communication, to interact with external and internal parties at all levels in a multi-cultural environment.
- Expert knowledge in Substation design and engineering, Layouts, Primary design & calculations, Grounding & Lightning design, Steel design inputs, transformers, HV & MV Switchgear systems.
- Knowledge of system studies like load flow, short circuit calculation; Single Line Diagrams, CT/VT calculations, Auxiliary Power Systems, power cables.
- Experience in Installation & Commissioning is considered as a plus.
- Strong in MS Office, knowledge in MicroStation and AutoCAD is required.
Other Position-Specific Characteristics:
- Availability to travel 25 % of the time (domestic/international travel)
- Flexibility in working in an office and on a construction site.
