About the Role

The Mechanical Engineering Manager is an outstanding opportunity to lead and manage the Linx Mechanical team of four people, in all aspects of people and technical development. We are looking for an outstanding people leader and Mechanical Engineer who will develop the team, strengthen engineering discipline, and drive ownership, accountability and high-quality delivery. This is a professional, hands-on technical role, focused on engineering excellence, predictable delivery, adherence to process, product quality and tollgate compliance, whilst defining and owning the continuous improvements of the mechanical processes, including KPIs, FMEAs, design reviews and verification.

Your responsibilities at Linx will include:

  • Leading, coaching and motivating the mechanical team, driving critical thinking, technical excellence, accountability and ownership of engineering deliverables.
  • Responsible for the accelerated product development of new printer products using industrial design, incorporating mass production techniques using plastic mouldings, sheet metal work and designs for ease of production assembly.
  • Delivering agreed project milestones and KPIs, ensuring robust execution of design reviews, verification, validation and risk management activities.
  • Working across departments to identify and resolve risks early, align priorities and ensure successful delivery of quality, performance, cost and time-to-market objectives.
  • Continuously improves systems and processes across the business in conjunction with the wider team, developing new technologies and standard toolsets (CAD, DFM, PDM, FEA etc) to help reduce design time, right first time, whilst also bringing new insights and engagement to Linx.
  • Technical specialist on all mechanical engineering matters that drive Linx’s products, including appreciation of the regulatory requirements for machine safety in a global market, whilst ensuring and maintaining a professional and safe working environment.
  • Building a culture where engineers take ownership of problems, make timely decisions and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes.

  • Experienced using KPIs, visual management and structured problem solving to drive team performance and continuous improvement.
  • Creative with a good balance of risk, priority management, cadence and pace.
  • Collaborative individual able to work with different people, companies, and processes.

Your Education and/or Background Experience will include:

  • A proven track record in team building, engagement and people development.
  • Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Automotive Engineering or time-served experience in a relevant industry.
  • Working in and leading a multidisciplinary design team to develop industrial components and products, incorporating electronics and software within the Engineering department of a commercial company.
  • Detailed knowledge on topics including mechanical engineering principles, sophisticated system integration, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.
  • Design of products using CAE tools, integrating solid, fluid and thermo mechanics, electronics, and software.
  • Experienced in SolidWorks, Creo, with additional use of Adobe Illustrator and Windchill a distinct advantage.
