About the Role:
The Management Accountant is responsible for key finance tasks such as payroll, management accounting, VAT returns for UK and Germany, and payment runs. The role will be located in our head office in St Ives, Cambridgeshire and is a hybrid role.
Typical Day Responsibilities:
- Payroll: Preparation of the payroll for 250+ employees, preparation of the holiday pay hours spreadsheet ready for payroll upload, processing of monthly overtime, working closely with HR and external payroll provider to maintain accuracy and integrity of payroll.
- Management Accounting: Ensuring completeness of month end accruals by working with departments, preparing and posting month end journals, posting of intercompany recharges and accruing for any that are missing at the month end, preparing balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner, adhering to internal controls and SOX standards.
- Banking (shared with Accounts Assistant): Preparation of payment runs and ad-hoc payment requests, ensuring all compliance processes are followed, posting the bank payments and preparing the bank reconciliation, matching unallocated credits.
- Expenses (shared with Accounts Assistant): Setting up new users in our expense system (Concur), providing Concur training to new Associates, preparation of the expenses payment run.
- Other: Preparation of the annual PSA (PAYE Settlement Agreement) & P11D workings, preparation of the monthly VAT reports for upload to Making Tax Digital tool, contribute to kaizen events and other ad-hoc projects.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- AAT qualified or equivalent.
- Experience of payroll processing.
- Strong grounding in Management Accounts.
- Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and data analysis.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage competing deadlines, and maintain high standards during month-end.
