This role supports live industrial production equipment used to code products such as food, pharmaceuticals, and essential goods. The engineer works hands-on with Linx Printing Technologies’ industrial coding and marking systems, supporting distributors remotely and, when required, providing targeted on-site assistance. The systems run on high-speed production lines, where reliability, correct integration, and rapid fault resolution are critical.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose electro-mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software faults on production-critical equipment.
- Provide escalation-level remote technical support and selective on-site intervention when needed.
- Support industrial printers and coders integrated into automated manufacturing lines.
- Troubleshoot printheads, sensors, I/O, fluid systems, and communications interfaces.
- Analyse RS232, Ethernet, and TCP/IP connectivity issues.
- Work closely with Engineering, R&D, and Quality to identify and resolve systemic product issues.
- Mentor and technically develop other support engineers.
- Background in industrial equipment support, such as Field Service Engineer, Industrial / Automation Support Engineer, Controls, Mechatronics, or Electronics Engineer, Maintenance or Commissioning Engineer.
- Strong experience with electro-mechanical machinery and embedded control systems; digital & analogue I/O, sensors, and actuators; PLC integration and basic ladder logic concepts.
- Knowledge of industrial networks, protocols, and diagnostics (e.g., Wireshark) and SQL/ODBC connectivity.
- Comfortable fault-finding machines involving mechanics, electronics, electrics, fluids, and communications.
- Seeking high technical depth with reduced constant travel.
- This role is not suitable for candidates with a first- or second-line IT support background.
