The Data Centre Technician is responsible for the physical operations of the Glasgow data centre, ensuring availability and reliability of critical infrastructure through hands‑on hardware diagnostics, repair, and maintenance in a 24/7 operational environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform hardware and network diagnostics and physical repairs to maintain data centre equipment
  • Conduct root cause analysis of infrastructure failures and document findings
  • Respond to on-site equipment failures within 60 minutes during on-call shifts
  • Develop documentation and scripts to update server and networking hardware
  • Train internal teams on data centre operations and procedures
  • Maintain consistent service availability and meet defined service levels

What You Need

  • Computer hardware experience including troubleshooting and assembling
  • Linux operating system experience
  • Ability to transport and position equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Physical capability to work in stationary positions and manoeuvre in confined spaces such as ladders and under‑floor areas
  • Fine motor skills for handling small hardware components and cables
  • Availability to work flexible schedules in a 24/7 environment with rotating on‑call participation
  • Excellent time management, organisational, and communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with computer networking
  • Python, Bash, or other scripting languages experience
  • Experience with Cisco IOS and/or Juniper JunOS
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in an IT-related field

Starting salary determined by job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location.
