The Data Centre Technician role is responsible for building, maintaining, and operating cutting-edge physical infrastructure in data centres, ensuring availability, reliability, and service levels through hands-on hardware and network operations.
What You’ll Do
- Perform hardware and network diagnostics and physical repairs to maintain data centre operations and service availability.
- Respond to on-site equipment failures within 60 minutes while on-call and conduct root cause analysis of infrastructure failures.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and assemble computer hardware components and networking equipment.
- Develop documentation and scripts to support server and networking hardware updates and operations.
- Travel up to 10% of the time to other data centre locations as required for operational support.
What You Need
- Computer hardware experience including troubleshooting and assembly.
- Linux operating system experience.
- Ability to transport and position equipment weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to work flexible schedules in a 24/7 environment with rotating on-call shifts.
- Excellent time management, organisational, and communication skills with ability to prioritise tasks and respond quickly to issues.
Nice to Have
- Experience with computer networking.
- Python, Bash, or other scripting languages experience.
- Experience with Cisco IOS and/or Juniper JunOS.
- Associate's Degree or equivalent IT-related field experience.
