Linsco are delighted to be working alongside our client, a well-established regional main contractor with over 30 years' experience delivering projects across the building, civil engineering and structural steel sectors. Operating across Yorkshire, Midlands and the North East, they have built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across construction and regional infrastructure projects.
With strong annual turnover, a growing order book and several long-term local authority and infrastructure framework agreements in place, they are now looking to appoint a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join their Civils & Build division. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone early in their QS career to join a supportive and growing commercial team where you will receive hands-on experience, mentorship and genuine long-term progression.
The Role
Working closely with the Managing QS and wider commercial team, you will assist in the commercial management of projects ranging from £1m - £15m. Duties will include:
- Assisting with the assessment and procurement of subcontract packages
- Completion and review of Bills of Quantities (BoQs)
- Assisting with drafting subcontract agreements
- Updating procurement schedules and tracking package progress
- Supporting the preparation of client applications for payment
- Pricing and managing variations
- Reviewing subcontractor applications and variation accounts
- Assisting with cost reporting and project forecasting
- Liaising with site teams, subcontractors and suppliers
- Supporting the commercial delivery of projects from pre-construction through to final account
The role will involve a mixture of office and site-based working, giving exposure to live projects and day-to-day site operations. You will gain experience across traditional build, design & build and internally developed schemes, while also working closely with the company's in-house civils and structural steel divisions to develop a broader understanding of key construction packages.
About You
- Degree qualified or currently studying Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
- Previous construction or placement experience would be beneficial but is not essential
- Strong communication skills and able to work well within different teams
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills
- Able to use initiative and work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Full UK driving licence preferred
