Are you an experienced Environmental Lead with a background in heavy civils or large scale infrastructure projects and looking for a fresh challenge? We have an exciting new opportunity with our client, a well-established civil engineering firm with national coverage and a growing reputation on major frameworks. They are seeking an experienced and driven Environmental Lead to play a key role in shaping and delivering environmental and sustainability strategy across a diverse portfolio of projects. This is an excellent opportunity to influence business-wide environmental performance, support major projects, and drive meaningful change within a forward-thinking organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of the company's environmental strategy
- Lead delivery of environmental and sustainability objectives across the business
- Manage environmental data, including energy and carbon reporting
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and regulatory requirements
- Provide expert environmental advice across design and construction phases
- Lead environmental audits and inspections in line with ISO 14001 and PAS 2080
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and deliver training where required
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies
About You
- Proven experience in an environmental role, ideally within construction, infrastructure, utilities, or civil engineering
- Strong understanding of environmental compliance, sustainability, and best practice
- Experience supporting projects across design and delivery phases
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
- Proactive approach to driving improvements and implementing change
Requirements
- Proven experience in an environmental role, ideally within construction, infrastructure, utilities, or civil engineering
- Membership with a recognised professional body (IEMA, CIEEM, CIWEM)
- Knowledge of:
- Environmental impact assessment and management
- SECR (Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting)
- PAS 2080 (Carbon Management in Infrastructure)
- ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme)
- PPN 06/21
- Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
