Linsco are delighted to be partnering with a leading national housebuilder to recruit an Assistant Buyer for their Midlands regional office. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to develop their career within procurement and commercial functions in the housebuilding sector. The Role
Working closely with the Regional Buyer and Commercial Director, you will support the procurement function to ensure materials, plant and services are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively to meet build programmes and commercial objectives. This role offers excellent exposure to the full procurement cycle and provides an opportunity to build valuable relationships with suppliers, site teams and internal stakeholders while developing your commercial knowledge within the housebuilding sector.
Duties will include:
- Assisting with procurement administration and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
- Supporting the procurement of materials and site requirements in line with build programmes and agreed start dates
- Raising and processing purchase orders
- Assisting with supplier management and maintaining strong supplier relationships
- Monitoring material deliveries and ensuring orders are placed in a timely manner
- Supporting the resolution of supplier invoice and order queries
- Producing procurement reports and maintaining accurate procurement records
- Liaising with commercial, technical, construction and site teams to ensure procurement requirements are met
- Assisting with the management of supplier performance and cost efficiencies
- Supporting the wider commercial team in achieving regional business objectives
About You
- Previous experience within a buying, procurement, commercial or construction support role would be advantageous
- Experience within the housebuilding or construction sector is highly desirable
- Good understanding of housebuilding processes and construction materials
- Strong financial and commercial awareness
- Understanding of current technical and design regulations within residential construction
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Experience using COINS procurement software would be advantageous
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships
- Eagerness to learn and develop within a commercial environment
