The Role
We are currently seeking a reliable and well-organised Storesperson / Driver to support our construction and maintenance operations. Based primarily within our yard and central stores, this role also involves driving a company tipper truck to deliver and collect tools, equipment, and materials from site. You will play a key part in ensuring site teams are consistently supplied with the correct tools and materials, helping projects run smoothly and efficiently. This is a hands-on role suited to someone practical, organised, and comfortable working in a construction environment. The company vehicle may be taken home for commuting purposes only (no personal use).
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the central stores, ensuring tools, plant, and materials are well organised and clearly labelled
- Issue and receive tools and equipment to and from site teams, maintaining accurate records
- Carry out regular stock checks and assist with inventory control
- Prepare tools and materials ahead of upcoming site works
- Deliver and collect tools, plant, and materials to and from construction sites
- Collect materials from suppliers and return unused or faulty equipment
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure vehicles are kept clean, safe, and roadworthy
- Maintain safe storage and good housekeeping standards within the yard and stores
- Support site managers by ensuring correct tools and materials are available when required
- Assist with waste management, returns, and recycling of materials
- Report any lost, damaged, or missing tools and equipment
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a stores, logistics, or construction support role (preferred but not essential)
- Experience working on or around construction sites is an advantage
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- Comfortable with manual handling and physical work
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple site teams
- Good awareness of health and safety requirements
Desirable (But Not Essential)
- CSCS card
- Forklift or plant tickets
- Experience with plant hire, tool hire, or materials procurement
- Knowledge of multi-trade construction environments
