We are looking for an Engineer to join the regional technical function, supporting design, compliance, and development activities across multiple residential projects. This role will contribute to regional growth plans and commercial targets while also providing guidance to junior team members. Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering input during feasibility stages, supporting land and development teams with viability assessments and compliance reviews.
- Determine when external consultants are required, agree fees and scopes of work, and manage their deliverables in line with project timelines.
- Oversee the flow of technical information between consultants, internal teams, and external partners to ensure designs meet programme requirements and relevant industry standards.
- Consider commercial implications of design decisions, including planning constraints, structural and civil engineering strategies, site remediation approaches, and utilities provision.
- Support the establishment of management companies for new sites, ensuring legal and procedural requirements are followed.
- Work with internal teams, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers to progress Building Regulations approvals, warranty applications, and condition discharges.
- Assist in preparing technical performance reports and key metrics.
- Coordinate all utility applications, design requests, quotations, and agreements.
- Take responsibility for managing the adoption processes for highways, drainage, and other infrastructure elements.
- Provide ongoing engineering advice to site teams and wider departments.
- Attend site meetings and lead discussions related to infrastructure design, approvals, and procurement.
Ideal Skillset & Experience
- Relevant qualification or strong background in technical design or civil engineering.
- Understanding of engineering and technical standards within residential development.
- Practical knowledge of highway design requirements, sewers for adoption, building regulations, British Standards, and AutoCAD.
- Strong technical and legal awareness, with commercial understanding.
- Highly organised and adaptable to changing project needs.
- Effective communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Awareness of warranty provider standards such as NHBC, LABC, or equivalent.
- Confident with numerical and technical documentation.
