Are you an experienced Site Agent with a background in civil engineering and flood defence projects, looking to join a well-established contractor delivering major infrastructure schemes?

We have an exciting opportunity with our client, a highly respected civil engineering contractor, who is looking to recruit an experienced Site Agent for their Northern Region.

The successful candidate will initially be based on coastal defence scheme work, playing a key role in the successful delivery of this important project.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing civil engineering projects from site, with a strong understanding of NEC contracts, site management and health & safety requirements.

Key duties

  • Manage site teams, operatives and subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
  • Produce and implement method statements, risk assessments and project management plans.
  • Monitor contract costs and ensure works are delivered within agreed budgets.
  • Prepare, manage and update construction programmes.
  • Assess, appoint and coordinate subcontractors.
  • Manage design coordination and resolve technical issues on site.
  • Administer contracts and manage variations in line with NEC requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and local communities.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and to the highest quality standards.

Required Skills

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Valid SMSTS and CSCS certification.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC4 contracts and civil engineering construction methods.
  • Previous experience delivering civil engineering projects, ideally including flood defence or coastal protection schemes.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, site teams and project programmes.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and project planning software such as Asta Powerproject or MS Project.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC).
  • First Aid at Work.
  • SEATS and/or EUSR certification.
