We are seeking an experienced PRS Lettings Negotiator to join a Housing Needs service in Lambeth.
The role will focus on securing suitable and affordable private rented accommodation for households experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and secure suitable private rented properties through landlord engagement, online platforms, cold calling and established networks.
- Negotiate rents, incentives and payments with landlords to maximise affordable PRS supply.
- Inspect properties, identify health and safety or disrepair issues and prepare inspection reports.
- Build strong working relationships with landlords, letting agents and housing professionals.
- Assess prospective tenants and match households with suitable available properties.
- Arrange and accompany property viewings and provide guidance to landlords and tenants throughout the letting process.
- Support prospective tenants with Universal Credit, Housing Benefit and rent payment arrangements.
- Work with internal teams and external partners to maximise landlord incentives, grants and empty-property opportunities.
- Promote private renting schemes through landlord forums, trade events and professional networks.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Council policies, financial regulations and relevant legislation.
- Contribute to homelessness prevention, service improvement and effective use of housing resources.
About You
You will have experience in private sector lettings, housing, homelessness prevention or property procurement, with excellent negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.
You will be confident working with landlords and tenants, assessing property suitability and securing positive outcomes for households in housing need.
