Lambeth Council is seeking an experienced Building Control Surveyor / Registered Building Inspector (RBI) to join its Building Control team. The role will involve assessing Building Regulations applications, undertaking technical plan appraisals and site inspections, advising applicants and professionals, and ensuring compliance with relevant building control legislation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage a varied caseload of Building Regulations submissions.
  • Undertake plan assessments and issue Decision Notices.
  • Conduct site inspections across Lambeth.
  • Review drawings, structural calculations and technical details.
  • Provide advice to builders, architects and other stakeholders.
  • Handle enforcement matters, including court attendance where required.
  • Assess dangerous structures and recommend appropriate remedial action.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and application administration.
  • Supervise junior Registered Building Inspectors within your competence.

Essential requirements:

  • Registered Building Inspector with appropriate Class 2A–2F competence.
  • Strong Building Control experience and knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Excellent technical assessment and inspection skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and make sound professional decisions.
  • Strong communication, report-writing and stakeholder-management skills.
