Occupational Therapist - Urgent Response Team
Location: Colindale, London
Rate: £34.31 per hour Umbrella Contract: Locum / Agency Service: Urgent Response Occupational Therapy
We are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist to join a busy Urgent Response OT team covering the London Borough of Barnet.
This role is ideal for an OT with strong manual handling and moving & handling assessment experience who is confident working autonomously and responding to urgent and complex situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete urgent Occupational Therapy and Moving & Handling Risk Assessments.
- Assess and manage high-risk transfers and manual handling situations.
- Respond to safeguarding concerns relating to equipment and manual handling.
- Assess individuals who are unable to safely transfer, mobilise or use stairs.
- Recommend appropriate equipment and care arrangements to reduce risk.
- Complete assessments where equipment is unavailable, inappropriate or no longer suitable.
- Assess requests to increase care from single-handed to double-handed care.
- Undertake visits across the London Borough of Barnet.
- Participate in one duty OT day per week.
- Work collaboratively with service users, carers and health and social care professionals.
About You
- Qualified Occupational Therapist with current HCPC registration.
- Excellent manual handling and moving & handling experience.
- Confident working independently and making professional decisions.
- Experience working within a fast-paced community or urgent response environment.
- Strong risk assessment and safeguarding awareness.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive, proactive approach and ability to work effectively within a small team.
- Driving is desirable due to borough-wide visits.
