We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Children's Social Work Assistant to join a busy Children's Services team in Birmingham, West Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced social workers, supporting vulnerable children, young people, and families while contributing to positive outcomes through high-quality practice.
This role is ideal for candidates with experience working within children's social care, family support, safeguarding, or related services who are passionate about making a difference.
Key Responsibilities- Support allocated casework under the direction of a Team Manager or Social Worker.
- Gather, record, and analyse information to assist with assessments and safeguarding interventions.
- Provide practical day-to-day support to children, young people, and their families.
- Promote the welfare and safety of children, ensuring their needs remain at the centre of all work.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and evidence-based case records using management information systems.
- Prepare clear reports and communicate effectively with professionals, families, and other stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure coordinated support for children and families.
- Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, and service reviews.
- Keep up to date with safeguarding legislation, policies, procedures, and best practice.
- Experience working with children, young people, or families within a social care, safeguarding, education, or family support setting.
- Knowledge of children's safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
