Occupational Therapist – Neurological Rehabilitation

Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role

You’ll work with adults with complex neurological conditions to support rehabilitation, manage ongoing conditions, and maximise independence and quality of life. Working collaboratively with residents, carers, and the wider transdisciplinary team, you’ll set achievable goals, develop individualised intervention plans, and regularly review progress to ensure the best outcomes.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Completing neurological assessments, treatment planning and interventions
  • Delivering rehabilitation to improve functional ability and independence with ADLs
  • Conducting cognitive assessments and implementing rehabilitation strategies
  • Applying therapeutic handling techniques
  • Assessing environmental and equipment needs, including specialist seating
  • Identifying ongoing needs while promoting quality of life
  • Liaising with community teams to support complex discharge planning
  • Evaluating outcomes in line with care plans
  • Supervising Occupational Therapy support staff and students
  • Implementing and developing evidence-based therapeutic activities

About You

You’ll be a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapist who is passionate about supporting individuals with neurological conditions. You’ll have strong clinical reasoning skills and a commitment to promoting recovery and independence.

  • HCPC registered Occupational Therapist
  • Minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience
  • Experience working with adults with complex neurological or long-term conditions
  • Strong understanding of Occupational Therapy models and frameworks
  • Practical experience using outcome measures such as FIM/FAM, CRS-R, WHIM and TOMS
  • Ability to manage a caseload and deliver high-quality, evidence-based interventions
  • Knowledge and experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or mental illness

Where You’ll Be Working

You’ll be part of a specialist neurological service based in Sawbridgeworth, providing 24-hour nursing and therapy support for adults with brain or spinal injuries and complex long-term neurological conditions. The site includes two modern centres with communal lounges, dining rooms, and single-occupancy, en-suite bedrooms — all adapted to meet residents’ individual needs.
