Home Manager – Nursing Care Home (Turnaround Experience Required)

Location: Watford, Hertfordshire

Salary: £70,000 – £80,000

We are recruiting an experienced Home Manager to lead a medium-sized nursing care home (approx. 65 beds) in the Watford area. This is a confidential vacancy on behalf of a reputable care provider seeking a strong and dynamic leader to drive quality improvements and strengthen overall performance.

The home currently has high occupancy with a mix of funding sources, including a number of self-funding residents. While experience working with private-paying families is advantageous, it is not essential.

About the Home

This established nursing care service (approx. 65 beds) provides high-quality nursing and residential support for older adults. The home has strong occupancy and a stable core team, offering a solid foundation for an experienced turnaround manager.

The home is currently rated Requires Improvement, and therefore the successful candidate must be confident in:

  • Delivering rapid quality improvements
  • Strengthening compliance and audit processes
  • Driving cultural and operational change
  • Leading services back to Good or higher ratings

The Role

As Home Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the operational and clinical performance of a busy nursing home
  • Leading on turnaround strategies and quality improvement
  • Ensuring full regulatory compliance and readiness for inspection
  • Managing staffing, recruitment, training, and performance
  • Building relationships with residents, families, professionals, and the wider community
  • Leading a dedicated team to deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred care

This role is ideal for an accomplished home manager with previous experience improving CQC outcomes.

About You

We are seeking a Home Manager who can demonstrate:

  • Proven success turning around services rated RI or Inadequate
  • Strong knowledge of CQC standards and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team development skills
  • Confidence managing clinical and operational environments
  • A commitment to high-quality, person-centred care

Nurse qualification is not essential; however, candidates with an RGN/RMN/RNLD background and turnaround experience will be viewed particularly favourably.
