Accounting Manager, UK (Remote)

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the month‑end and year‑end close processes, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Liaise with external auditors and support the year‑end audit process.
  • Oversee payroll accounting and managing related compliance filings (e.g PAYE, P11D) in collaboration with HR and external providers.
  • Manage the day‑to‑day accounts payable and employee expense processes with support from junior staff.
  • Ensure timely and accurate VAT filings and other tax compliance obligations.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls and process improvements across the finance function, including documenting processes and accounting policies.
  • Manage ad hoc projects (e.g cross‑functional process improvements, M&A integration, system implementation).

What you’ll bring to the role

Experience, Attitude & Core Skills

  • Fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
  • Proficient (1–2 years) in NetSuite accounting software
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role (ideally for a remote team)
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts under UK GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Familiarity with tax compliance (e.g VAT, corporation tax)
  • Hands‑on experience processing UK payroll and ensuring compliance with statutory filings and deadlines
  • A solid understanding of internal control design and operational efficiency
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical mindset, and a proactive approach to problem solving

Nice To Have

  • SaaS or technology sector background
  • Exposure to multi‑entity or multi‑currency operations including international inter‑company transactions and consolidated management reports and financial statements
  • Knowledge of ESG, R&D tax credits or transfer pricing
