We are looking for an experienced Grid Connections Manager to manage the end-to-end grid connection process for renewable energy, BESS and low-carbon energy projects across the UK.
This role will sit within the Development / Engineering team and will be responsible for grid connection strategy, applications, agreements, stakeholder management and ensuring projects reach timely and cost-effective energisation.
Key Responsibilities Develop and manage grid connection strategies for renewable and BESS projects.
Assess connection opportunities, network constraints, reinforcement requirements and risks.
Manage grid connection applications from feasibility through to energisation.
Review and negotiate connection offers and agreements.
Coordinate technical studies, including load flow, fault level, harmonic, dynamic and grid compliance studies.
Ensure compliance with the UK Grid Code, Distribution Code, G99 and relevant ENA Engineering Recommendations.
Act as the main point of contact for NESO, NGET, DNOs, IDNOs, Ofgem, consultants and EPC contractors.
Work closely with internal engineering, development, commercial and project teams.
Monitor programmes, costs, milestones and grid-related risks, reporting progress to senior management.
Requirements Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or a related discipline. 5–10 years’ experience in UK transmission, distribution, renewables, BESS or utilities.
Experience managing grid connections for renewable energy and/or BESS projects.
Strong knowledge of UK electricity networks, substations, protection systems and grid compliance.
Experience with DIg SILENT Power Factory, PSS®E or ETAP would be advantageous.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills.
Commercial awareness and strong project management capability.
