Data Center Construction Manager

Data Center Construction Manager

Full-Time On-site
L

Linnk Group is currently recruiting for an experienced Data Centre Construction Manager to support a major hyperscale data centre programme in the Greater London region.

This is a minimum 12-month contract, with strong potential for extension, starting in January 2027. The role will be fully site-based, 5 days per week, and will involve overseeing Principal Contractors, managing construction delivery, programme, risk and stakeholder interfaces on behalf of the client.

We are looking for an experienced client-side Construction Manager with a strong UK construction background, ideally within data centres, mission-critical infrastructure.

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in UK construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior site-based CM role
  • Oversight of Principal Contractors β€” proven track record managing large Tier 1/Tier 2 contractors and multiple sub-contractor packages simultaneously.
  • CDM Client-side duties β€” experience acting on behalf of a Client under CDM 2015, including reviewing Construction Phase Plans, ensuring welfare provision, and managing Principal Designer/Principal Contractor interfaces.
  • Brownfield site experience β€” managing contaminated land, asbestos in made ground, high water table conditions, and associated risk controls.
  • Stakeholder & consent management β€” experience liaising with statutory bodies (Thames Water, Network Rail, Local Planning Authorities) and managing third-party obligations/approvals.
  • Programme management β€” ability to critically assess and manage contractor programmes (Primavera P6 or MS Project), track milestones, and report on progress/delay.
  • Risk management β€” proactive identification, assessment, and communication of project risks, including EOT/delay event management.
  • Client reporting β€” experience producing clear, concise progress reports, risk registers, and status updates for senior/executive stakeholders within [large multinational] organisations.
  • Self-starter β€” ability to work independently on site with minimal supervision, driving day-to-day project delivery autonomously.
  • Communication skills β€” excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to and challenging senior stakeholders.
  • Data centre construction β€” experience on hyperscale or colocation data centre projects (shell & core, campus-level infrastructure) is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Working for a large multinational technology client (e.g., AWS, Google, Microsoft, Meta) or similar blue-chip client-side role.
  • Security-sensitive environments β€” experience managing works on sites with enhanced security requirements (CCTV, access control, perimeter security).

Qualifications & Certifications required:

  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) β€” current and valid
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent, e.g., NVQ Level 6 in Construction Site Management)
  • CDM 2015 Regulations β€” demonstrable working knowledge and experience as a Client representative or Principal Contractor's agent
