At Cave Veterinary Specialists, our top priority is to provide outstanding specialist care for small animals. We are a referral veterinary hospital located in Wellington, Somerset, treating pets across the South West. Our team of highly experienced Veterinary Surgeons and RVNs work with state-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical equipment, including CT, MRI, digital and dental X-rays, ultrasound, and fully equipped theatres, enabling us to treat the most complex and challenging cases. About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Rotational RVN Team Leader to join our nursing leadership team. This is a pivotal role where you will combine your clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities to ensure the highest standards of patient care and client experience across our hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership within the Rotational nursing team.
  • Take on direct and indirect line management responsibilities, supporting and developing your team.
  • Represent the nursing voice in site-level conversations and contribute to decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Nursing Services, Clinical Director, Hospital Director, Team Leaders, Heads of Service, and wider clinical teams to deliver exceptional care through teamwork and clear communication.
  • Approximately 80% of your role will be clinical, working alongside your team to provide hands-on care and support. You will also participate in the on-call rota.
  • Lead yourself, your team, and the business to deliver high-quality patient care, utilising your experience and skills while delegating appropriately.
  • Support efficient patient-flow through the hospital.
  • Provide direct line management to Lead Nurse and other allocated members of the nursing team.
  • Oversee recruitment and support inductions for new team members.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, demonstrating reliability, adaptability, understanding, and empathy.
  • Foster a culture of respect, collaboration, and engagement within the practice team to support wellbeing, quality, and productivity.
  • Ensure the highest level of patient and client care through active leadership and line management of the nursing team.
  • Work collaboratively with other Team Leaders and departments to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Uphold and engage in Clinical Standards & Quality Improvement and demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development.
  • Understand and implement practice and group policies and comply with regulatory requirements.

About You

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse with proven experience in a leadership or senior role.
  • Strong clinical skills and a passion for delivering high-quality care.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and adapt to a rotational schedule.
