Job Type: Permanent

Hours: 40 hours/week; shifts between 7am–10pm with 2:8 weekends and time off in lieu following.

Your Role and Responsibilities

Southfields Veterinary Specialists are recruiting for a nurse to support the wards team in providing exceptional care to our patients. You will work as part of a large, multi-disciplinary team including consultants, residents, interns, nurses and patient care assistants. The caseload is large and varied, covering referrals and emergencies; this role offers opportunities to develop your career while gaining experience across disciplines. The role is rewarding and challenging and requires teamwork and dedication to the service and its patients.

As a Ward RVN, you will deliver exceptional inpatient care. Your responsibilities include prioritising and providing timely nursing support, developing tailored care plans with our consultants, and ensuring seamless case handovers and communication across disciplines. You will monitor and assist patients through recovery, delivering both specialist and emergency care. The role includes the opportunity to rotate through the high-dependency ward and manage complex cases such as brain tumours, seizures, diabetic ketoacidosis, transfusions and septic patients. You will need excellent clinical skills, strong communication, the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, and a calm, organised approach under pressure.

You will work a range of shifts between 7am–10pm and 2:8 weekends with time off in lieu following.

You must fulfil the following requirements:

  • Proof of your right to work in the UK
  • Be a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience
  • Have an excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Maintain a professional and caring approach in all aspects of your work
