Overview
Role: Patient Care Assistant
Location: Oak Barn Veterinary Centre
Job type: Permanent, full-time
Hours: 40 hours per week; weekends: fair-share of Saturday shifts (currently 1 in 4)
Shifts: 7:30-16:00 and 10:30-19:00
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient handling and restraint.
- Ensure that all handling and restraint is carried out in a patient-friendly approach to minimise stress or discomfort to the patient.
- Cleaning, disinfection and preparation of patient accommodation.
- Maintain the hospital and its infection control, including sterilising and deep cleaning among other duties.
- Assist with reception and client care, including answering the telephone, dealing with enquiries, booking procedures and taking payments.
- Assist Veterinary Surgeons, Veterinary Nurses, and support staff where and when required.
- Work and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
- Demonstrate reliability, adaptability, understanding and empathy.
