Village Vet Hampstead is seeking a Night Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its 24‑hour hospital, where overnight nursing care, emergency triage, and critical medical management play a vital role in patient outcomes.

As a Night Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will take ownership of overnight patient care within a supportive and highly capable night team consisting of a Registered Veterinary Nurse, Patient Care Assistant, and Veterinary Surgeon.
You will manage a diverse caseload including emergency surgeries, overnight medical in‑patients, and emergency and critical care cases. The role offers autonomy in clinical decision‑making while being fully supported by a Lead Night Veterinary Surgeon and the wider senior clinical team.
Annualised hours allow flexibility, including the ability to swap night blocks for extended periods of leave, supporting work‑life balance.
You will also have opportunities to participate in nurse consultations, patient handovers, and contribute to clinical protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overnight nursing care for hospitalised and emergency patients
- Perform emergency triage and assist with critical medical management

Essential Requirements
- Registered Veterinary Nurse with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
- Minimum of two years’ post‑qualification experience in small animal practice
- Experience or strong interest in emergency and critical care and in‑patient care
- Confidence working overnight independently within a supportive team
- Strong communication and organisational skills

The hospital operates as an emergency and critical care hub with a varied caseload and is equipped across four floors with full diagnostic facilities, including an on‑site laboratory, ICU, separate cat and dog wards, and a full theatre suite.

The Team
You will work within a close‑knit overnight team alongside a veterinary surgeon and patient care assistant, while also being part of a wider clinical community of registered veterinary nurses, patient care assistants, students, and certificate‑holding veterinary surgeons.
The caseload includes emergency and critical care presentations such as gastric dilatation‑volvulus, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, intensive post‑operative monitoring, and medical in‑patient care. The environment is fast‑paced but well‑supported, with strong communication between day and night teams through structured handovers.
